Pacaur does not work as root for security reasons, it will only ask for a password interactively when invoking `makepkg`: ``` $ sudo pacaur -S home-assistant [sudo] password for zoresvit: :: you cannot perform this operation as root ```

ArchLinux is a lightweight and flexible Linux distribution. There are official packages optimized for the i686 and x86-64 architectures available.
Install the needed Python packages.
$ sudo pacman -S python
$ sudo pacman -S python-pip
and Home Assistant itself.
$ pip3 install homeassistant
Home Assistant is part of the AUR. This means that it can be installed with pacaur
:
$ pacaur -S home-assistant
